Governors required

THE Birmingham Federation of Maintained Nursery Schools are looking to add 5 new governors to help strategically lead, support and challenge its 12 nurseries.

Since September 2018 our schools, which are either rated 'Outstanding' or 'Good' by Ofsted and educate 1700 children, have been working under one Governing Board in order to further our strategic aims of sustainability and impact.

Having developed the new Board and leadership model we are keen to strengthen our 20 strong team of co-opted, parent and local authority governors with additional expertise. We are looking for people with skills and knowledge in the areas of:

  • Strategic planning
  • Safeguarding
  • Early Years pedagogy, curriculum and assessment
  • finance and data management
  • HR and employment legislation
  • Building/Estates management

These skills may have been gained in a commercial, community or public sector context; we week representation from as broad a section of society as possible. Most importantly, we welcome enquiries from those who have a genuine passion and commitment for enhancing opportunities and raising the outcomes for Birmingham's youngest children.

Being a governor is a voluntary role and you should expect to attend up to 12 meetings a year. These are normally held in late afternoon/early evening and scheduled in advance.

If you would like to put yourself forward or require any further information, please contact the Chair of Governors, Sean Delaney, on s.delaney@crec.co.uk - who will be happy to discuss this with you and answer any questions you might have.
