Making tasty vegetable soup

CHILDREN in Yellow Group learned all about healthy eating at Selly Oak Nursery School when they made a tasty soup made from vegetables they had grown.

The children had planted the seeds in June before the summer holidays and returned in September to discover a bumper crop of carrots.

The vegetables were pulled from the ground, cleaned and chopped by the boys and girls, before Mrs Hindley made a hearty soup, which was enjoyed by all of the children.

Selly Oak is committed to encouraging children to eat healthily.

"The children learned all about where healthy food comes from, then developed their hand and eye coordination when chopping the carrots, as well as enjoying a nutritious and delicious meal," said Mrs Hindley.

"They enjoyed the soup so much some had two bowls."
